ManTra -project goals

The project will create and strengthen networks and cooperation between Nordic, Baltic and Northern Karelian non-governmental organisations, which are focusing on the management and conservation of traditional rural landscapes and biotopes. The project will establish a forum where different management experiences and results of Nordic-Baltic studies of this subject are presented and discussed further. Study material, produced by NGOs participating in the project, will be delivered on virtual university courses in 2005-2006. Project activities are:

1) English language Internet forum concerning traditional rural biotopes that is maintained by the Association for Traditional Rural Landscapes of Southwest Finland.

2) Virtual teaching courses using material already produced by the associations and institutions of the participating countries.

3) Seminars and conferences concerning burning issues and latest achievements on this field.
